常聽Don Mclean唱的 American Pie 和 Vincent, 但是我比較喜歡這首 Empty Chairs, 喜歡歌詞的押韻﹐就忍不住想看看他想表達的意思﹐原文的意境很美﹐參考過網路其他翻譯﹐希望自己的不要太離譜

雖然不認識您,但對DON MCLEAN的音樂,吾心有戚戚焉,這首EMPTY CHAIR始終讓我百聽不厭,甚至感動落淚,或許這就是古人所說的知音吧~

Empty Chair 這首歌很特別。 記得當時在坊間最為流行的當然是 Vincent，幾乎人人都能簡單地哼兩句，Empty Chair 則幾乎沒人聽過，但他有兩個特點，第一是跟 Vincent 的風格非常類似，幾乎是同一種類型的歌，第二是凡是在餐廳唱民歌的學生歌手，這首歌也一定要會唱。 民謠歌手之所以要唱的原因，就是前面說的它跟 Vincent 的風格類似，唱起來顯得十分有格調，看起來似乎也頗有實力。 Empty Chair 蘊含了 Don Mclean 獨特的、優雅的、詩人般的品味，是非常好聽的一首歌，能夠欣賞的人，大概也類似 Don Mclean 般的深邃典雅，不過他特有的演唱方式，一般人很難學得好，這當然也跟美國鄉村、學術文化有些關係，外地人不易融入。 還有一個很特別之處，這首歌是典型的男生歌曲，然而欣賞它的卻大部分是女性，哈，這會不會也解釋了何以男生願意學唱這首陌生與艱澀的曲子。
